I cannot believe she turned one today! Where did the time go? She is turning into such a wonderful little person with a big personality. I have so much love for her I don't think I could put words to it.
For her birthday, I wanted to do something special even though we are technically waiting until Daddy comes home in a few (6) more weeks to celebrate it with a party. We explored the Escondido Children's museum for a few hours and then spent the late afternoon/evening at the La Jolla shoreline park enjoying the musical stylings of "Hullabaloo"--Lena's first concert!

When I tell you she is a climber--I really mean it. She can now climb in and out of her full size stroller and full size high chairs all by herself.

Oh so
kissy!
I want some of those!

Is it
OK for me to comment on how gorgeous my own daughter is? Eh, whatever--she is! Just look at her! Strikingly beautiful in my opinion!

I always wanted a hat like this when I was little--very Robin Hood Maid Marian (the
Disney version with the foxes...)

Cracks me up--she is now starting to lift her foot for me to get her shoe on and bringing it to me when it falls off--which is funny because I NEVER put shoes on her--except at the Fisher Center where it is required.

"No pictures please...not while I'm eating!" We had a lovely picnic at the park in La
Jolla waiting for the concert to start.

I didn't want to do the real birthday cake smashed all over her face until Dave gets home...however, they had cupcakes at the park, so for the love, how could I
not let her have one? No icing tho! We gotta save SOMETHING for daddy :)

Lena got a lot of birthday wishes today over the phone. Thanks
everybody!

Hullabaloo LIVE! We very much enjoyed the kids concert at the Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the new
La Jolla playground. They play all around San Diego, so we will be checking them out again!

All the white chairs for the ceremony were like a fabulous maze for Lena once they were empty!

I'm telling you, she makes friends EVERYWHERE we go. She kept tapping this lady's arm when she would turn away, at first I was embarrassed, but of course the lady loved it!
What a fantastic birthday! Wish you could have been here to enjoy it with us Daddy! We'll have a do over in a few weeks when you get home. :)
