Catalina Island

Dave and I spent the weekend at Catalina Island for a last chance 'just the two of us' vacation as the baby is coming in a mere 7 weeks. We had a great time enjoying such a beautiful local place.
The main town on the Island, Avalon, was completely walkable even for a 7-month pregnant lady. So quaint and beautiful!
We took our life in our hands on this bus tour into the remote areas of the island. We saw beautiful views of the inland mountains and the coasts. Our tour guide was quite animated and his driving frightened all of us around the tight mountain curves with the steep drop offs.
We even saw bison!

The only way to eat ribs...

The view from our very nice hotel balcony!

We also did an undersea semi-submersible submarine tour. Sometimes the fish were so thick outside the window it would block out the sunlight!
See the pretty orange ones! Dave just had to have fish n chips when the tour was over :)
Probably the highlight of the tour, but no good pictures, was the 'flying fish boat trip' we took Saturday evening. No kidding, these 1-2 foot long skinny fish would leap out of the water and glide 1-15 feet! They were amazing! One 'flew' right into the side of the boat!
