Phase 3 Complete on the Yardwork Saga

After the original tilling/planting did not produce a blade of grass after 4 weeks of constant attention and hand watering (grrrr), we were frustrated and desperate. Tim, our neighbor who had successfully replanted their yard came over to share his wisdom and seed. That night, he and Dave planted the 6 x 12 portion right in front of the cement porch as a test section and we had grass in a week. Dave was sold on his method and seed and went to work on phase 1 (far right) which grew but was spotty. He learned from that and planted phase 2 several weeks ago (far left) which came in much fuller and less patchy. So this past weekend he completed the final phase--seeding the middle, and has set up a sprinkler system that is doing a much better job than our previous hand watering attempts. Its looking good, and we are quite proud--another few weeks and the yard will be ready for playing in. Compare this photo to our 'before shot' on April 22, 2008.
